SAYS Pong Championship 2012

This year was the first ever SAYS Pong Championship! It started off with a random conversation with Khailee and some of the SAYS team members, next thing I know we were drawing lots, creating fixtures and I was told to organize it.

It was certainly a privilege organizing this SAYS Pong championship. It gave me the opportunity to bond even more with the Says team. Before I proceeded, I barely knew anyone. I was only in my 3^rd week at the Hideout as an Intern. So it was good being able to mingle with the Sales, Tech and Campaign team.

The road to Says Pong was perfect timing! Because right after Euro 2012, something was a missed. Some of us felt it. So coming out with the championship gave us something to look forward to again after work!

So here are the list of players. Everyone was hyped up for it. Some players were really hardworking. With the constants practices after work hours, sharing ping pong videos to understand the technique even more. It was getting pretty serious. It was time. Everyone was game for it.

During the duration of the championship. We did face some “drama-minggu-hari-ini”. We had an issue with the security guards, complaining that we were making a lot of noise and that we were disturbing other tenants on the same building. We even had to stall some matches for one day to figure out who stole our Ping Pong net! It was disaster! So something needed to be done. We had to make peace with the security guards, we even tried to find our net only to find it hanging from the tree.

[yes .. someone stole it and threw it there].

During the competition, we had an unexpected turn of events. Having the ‘ HUN-stoppable Hun Yeoh’ as the SAYS Pong Champion 2012. We seeded N.V Nguyen or Aaron Woon to be the Champion but that’s how it is like with championships, anything can happen.

Yup. He’s the guy on the right.

All in all, it was a good experience for me. I believe everyone had a lot of fun as well. This is what we are all about at Says. You don’t go winning the World Most Democratic Workplace 2012 for nothing :) Also a HUGE thanks to Nguyen, Al and Ronn for taking turns to referee the match.
